Revebestanden har eksplodert på øya, på tross av felling av mange dyr i fjor og i år.

Reven avler frem store kull på grunn av enkel tilgang på mat. Ved mating blir reven vant til mennesker (Ikke tam), blir nærgående og kan virke truende på enkelte.
Reven er også utsatt for skabb og dette kan medføre smitteoverføring til husdyr og i noen tilfeller til mennesker.
Småbarnsfamilier utrykker engstelse for å la barn sove i vogn ute og det har vært flere tilfeller at reven har kommet innomhus på leit etter føde når ytterdører har stått åpen.

Ønsker at kommunens innbyggere og besøkende respekterer og etterkommer denne henstillingen.

STOP FEEDING WILD ANIMALS!

The Municipality of Måsøy is asking residents and visitors in the municipality to stop feeding foxes that are growing their families in the Havøysund Island and neighborhood.

Despite killing foxes, the two recent year, due to easy access to food foxes are growing their families and the population is growing fast on the island.
Feeding foxes make them habituated to humans. Foxes are wild animals and they can be threatening to some.
These wild animals can carry a range of parasites and diseases relevant to the health of domestic pets and human.
Families with small children are getting worried to let their children sleep or play outside. There also have been several cases where the fox has come inside the house in search for food.

Municipality request the public to respect the recommendations and comply with these recommendations.
